History:

It is a Spanish catholic confessional party of the II Republic (1931-1939), which gave rise to the Spanish Confederation of Autonomous Right-wing Groups*.

It springs up on the 29th April 1931 under the name of National Action. In 1932, it is renamed as People's Action. It supported catholicism, and the concepts of property and family with a conservative, catholic and monarchic ideology.

Ángel Herrera Oria, director of El Debate, was its developer.

The youth organization Juventudes de Acción Popular (JAP) was comparable to this political party.

*Officially known in Spain as "Confederación Española de Derechas Autónomas"
