Miguel de Unamuno y Jugo (Bilbao, September 29, 1864 - Salamanca, December 31, 1936). He was writer, Spanish philosopher and member of the generation of ?98. He was the author of different literary genres: novel (highlighting his works "San Manuel Bueno" and "Mártir, La Tía Tula o Niebla"), essay, theatre and poetry. Apart from his literary activity, Miguel de Unamuno developed an intense political activity as Republican and Socialist, being a member of the Congress of Deputies, between 1931 and 1933, for the constituency of Salamanca. As a teacher, he also developed an intense career, Professor of Greek at the University of Salamanca, since 1891. In 1900, he was appointed Rector of the University, charge which held in three occasions, the last one, from 1931 until his dismissal, on October 22, 1936.
